About TassemiT Zellige Tiles
The art of Zellige originated in the 10th century, inspired by the Romans. Tiles are made with a non-refined clay that is extracted from the Fez region in Morocco. It is a low-fired terracotta tile that is manufactured by our craftsmen according to the authentic tilework traditions passed down through the centuries, where they hand shape each piece. The appeal of Zellige tile comes from the beauty in its imperfections that makes each design uniquely yours. Due to their handmade nature, no two pieces are the same – they will have slight differences in color and size, with other subtle variances.
Zellige tiles create a cozy atmosphere, that can transport you to a café in Paris, a farmhouse in West Virginia, or grandma’s kitchen. With a variety of color options to choose from, you can set the mood these distinctive tiles that are rooted in tradition and deeply woven history. They can be used for all applications on floor and wall, interior & exterior, and pools.
The Zellige Imperfections
Some of the tiles you will receive can have small pitted as well as contain small hairline cracks in the glaze and edge-chipping. These tiles are absolutely fine to be installed and will give you the traditional Zellige finish. If you do not wish to have these imperfections, we recommend ordering 25%-30% more tile when ordering.
Color Accuracy
Due to the various display monitors, the colors you see on your screen may not be a totally accurate reproduction of the actual product. We try to make our colors as accurate as possible, but screen images are intended to be used as a guide only and should not be regarded as absolute accuracy
Zellige Installation Guide
DO NOT install directly from boxes. Open several different boxes of Zellige tiles and mix the tiles to achieve the best overall homogenous blend of shade variation and surface imperfections.
Disclaimer
Zellige tiles are hand-molded, hand-cut, and hand-glazed. No two zellige tiles are exactly the same. They will have tiny imperfections or variants among the tiles.
